LeBron James holds off on decision as Heat wait, says, 'it's going to be fun'

MIAMI — While closure was achieved with the Miami Heat introducing Giannis Antetokounmpo on Thursday at Kaseya Center, the LeBron James waiting game apparently will continue.
In New York at Fanatics Fest, where he recorded a live podcast, James teased about his ongoing free agency without announcing a decision.
The Heat are among the teams James has been linked to, which would be a reunion from his 2010-14 tour with the team he helped lead to NBA Finals in all four of those seasons and NBA championships in 2012 and ’13.
“Shout out my former team. I spent eight great years with the Los Angeles Lakers,” James said during his appearance at the Javits Center. “That was an unbelievable ride and I am looking forward to what comes next as I wind down my journey. It’s going to be fun wherever I land.”
He then was asked by a youth in the crowd about his free-agency approach.
“Obviously, it’s a big decision,” he said. “This is the third time in my career that I’ve been a free agent. I think three, yeah. So it’s a big decision for not only myself, but for my family as well, and just for the last part of my career and where I want to spend the last few years or the last year or the last two years of my NBA career.
“So wherever I go, I will make my statement on just — I’m a natural born leader. I’m going to try to fit into whatever team I’m going into, but also give them all the tools and give them all the knowledge that I’ve been able to grasp over the last 23 years.”
He added, “Wherever I land, I hope that you support me and I can continue to inspire you.”
The motivation, James said, remains ample.
“I seen something on social media that wherever I go we’d be in the play-in ... and I’m not a factor anymore,” he said. “That’s just a little motivation.”
The Heat are among several potential landing spots of interest in the Eastern Conference, along with his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers.
“I would say this is like, the first time in a long time that coming into a preseason, that the Eastern Conference will probably get talked about a little bit more than the Western Conference,” he said, with the Heat adding Antetokounmpo, the Philadelphia 76ers adding Jaylen Brown, the Toronto Raptors hoping to add Kawhi Lenard and the New York Knicks standing as defending NBA champions.
