Actress Mariska Hargitay sprinted 10 blocks from theater to Knicks thriller

NEW YORK — Actress and devoted Knicks fan Mariska Hargitay sprinted 10 blocks from her “Every Brilliant Thing” performance on Broadway to make what turned out to be an epic Knicks NBA Finals Game 4 on Wednesday.
“I took four minutes off the running time of my show, and I knew the traffic would be crazy, so I sprinted from the Hudson Theater on 44th and 6th to MSG,” she told The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday. “But I knew everything was going to be all right, because I was wearing my Jalen Brunson Kobe 5 Protos that Jalen gave me a few months ago. But I’m not gonna lie, the 10-block sprint after a two-show day was no joke.”
The longstanding Knicks superfan has developed a bond with Brunson, and they are known for their on-court postgame hugs. Their friendship is the envy of the team’s celebrity fans, especially Ben Stiller. Brunson, for his part, says streaming “SVU” episodes is part of his pregame ritual and has described being starstruck when he first met the real-life Olivia Benson.
Hargitay seemed to have recovered from the run by the time the Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs, 107-106, after managing to close a 29-point gap, because she bolted from her courtside seat in “celebrity row” seconds after OG Anunoby tapped the ball into the net for the game-winning point with 1.2 seconds to spare.
Afterward she was seen wandering amid the hubbub, alternately clutching her heart and covering her shocked face with her hands, in a video that ESPN captioned, “Someone check on Mariska’s heart.”
The game was in fact so epic that the “Law & Order: SVU” star said it may well have eclipsed her wedding night.
“I love my husband, and our wedding night was great and all, but I think it might have been the greatest night of my life,” Hargitay told The Hollywood Reporter. “The game was so brutal, down 29 at the half, but I’m telling you, to watch this team fight and claw their way back — to see that look in Jalen’s eyes — there are just endless life lessons in there. And then OG comes flying in, his orange and blue cape fluttering behind him, and then it’s just pandemonium. It’ll get replayed again and again, not just as an epic moment in basketball, but on the highlight reel of the best moments in sports. And all I could think was “THAT JUST HAPPENED!!!” And “OH MY GOD, I LOVE THIS TEAM!!!” And “OH MY GOD, I LOVE THIS CITY!!!”
