DETROIT — The Detroit Pistons were leading the Los Angeles Lakers 105-100 with 3:40 remaining in the fourth quarter. For the Lakers, being only five points behind was reassuring, especially considering they came into Detroit with the league's best record in clutch moments with a 22-6 record.

The Lakers mounted a rally in the final three minutes and took the lead with 39.9 seconds left in the final period. However, Daniss Jenkins nailed a pair of free throws to give the Pistons a 109-108 lead with 34.6 seconds left. However, Austin Reaves connected on a floater on the Lakers' next offensive possession; Jenkins responded with a mid-range jumper, giving the Pistons a 113-110 victory over the Lakers inside Little Caesars Arena Monday night.

Los Angeles' winning streak ended at nine, while the Pistons improved to 52-19 overall, 8-2 without Cade Cunningham.

Jenkins led the way with a career-best 30 points, eight assists and four rebounds. Jalen Duren added 20 points and 11 rebounds. Tobias Harris added 14 points and seven rebounds. Duncan Robinson finished with 12 points on 4 of 9 from behind the arc.

Before the game, Luka Doncic was named the Western Conference Player of the Week, having averaged 42.3 points over the previous seven days. However, the Pistons' defense limited Doncic to his least efficient performance during that stretch, as he made just 11 of 29 shots — 3 of 13 from behind the arc — for 32 points.

After going scoreless in the first half for the third time in his career, LeBron James finished with 12 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds.
