DETROIT — There are ugly games, and then there’s what happened at Comerica Park on Tuesday night.

Dean Kremer set a new career high with eight runs allowed and the Detroit Tigers scored in all eight of their innings to beat the Orioles, 14-0. It was the most lopsided shutout loss the Orioles had endured since June 14, 2004 when the Cleveland Indians beat them by the same score and just the eighth shutout loss by such a deficit in team history.

The Tigers became the first team ever to score at least one run in the first eight or more innings against the Orioles.

Coming off a strong performance in the series opener, the Orioles fell behind four batters into the bottom of the first when third baseman Colt Keith drove in two runs with a triple that Colton Cowser just missed on a diving attempt. Cowser was shaken up after the play but stayed in for the remainder of the game.

Kremer was hit hard, leaving several fastballs over the middle of the strike zone that the Tigers punished. They recorded four hits in an eight-pitch span during the second inning, including a solo home run by catcher Eduardo Valencia and a two-run double off the bat of second baseman Gleyber Torres.

The right-hander, who allowed six runs his last time out in Boston, only made it through the fourth, allowing eight hits and three walks with four strikeouts. His ERA ballooned to 6.50 through seven starts after he entered his last start against the Red Sox with a 4.15.

Albert Suárez and Josh Walker both gave up a pair of runs in relief as well before giving way to catcher Chadwick Tromp for the eighth. Tromp, making the first pitching appearance of his career, gave up a two-run homer to Valencia that sent the score final.
