NEW YORK — Just as the bruised and battered Yankees thought they were getting healthy — at least at the major league level — another injury bit the Yankees on Friday.

The club placed Carlos Rodón on the 15-day injured list with left elbow inflammation prior to its series opener against the Twins. The move is retroactive to June 30.

Rodón, previously expected to pitch on Saturday, is only nine starts into his season. He had a bone spur shaved down and loose bodies removed from his left elbow in October. That procedure forced him to miss all of spring training, as well as the first month-plus of the 2026 campaign.

The southpaw is 4-2 with a 3.30 ERA over 46 1/3 innings this season.

Rodón is not the Yankees’ only left-handed starter on the IL, as Max Fried is recovering from a bone bruise in his left elbow. He recently threw to hitters for the first time since his injury.

Rodón also isn’t the only Yankees pitcher to have an injury revealed since the team last played on Wednesday, as highly-touted prospect Carlos Lagrange went on the IL at Triple-A with a shoulder injury on Thursday. The flamethrower, who had been preparing for a big league audition in the Yankees’ bullpen, was awaiting the results of an MRI as of Thursday night.

While the Yankees lost Rodón on Friday, they did get Trent Grisham and Ryan McMahon back from the injured list. They also got David Bendar back from the paternity list.

Oswaldo Cabrera and Yovanny Cruz were optioned to make space.
