DENVER — Avalanche warnings were issued across Colorado mountain ranges Wednesday afternoon lasting through Friday morning, according to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center.

The forecast warned of “very dangerous avalanche conditions” in effect for the Park Range and Flat Top mountains; the San Juan, La Plata, La Garita, and Sangre de Cristo mountains; West Elks through the Ragged and Ruby mountains to Huntsman Ridge; and Grand and Battlement mesas.

Heavy snow and strong winds are creating “very dangerous” avalanche conditions, according to the CAIC. Natural and human-triggered avalanches are “very likely,” the center said.

Travel through avalanche terrain is not recommended Wednesday evening through Friday morning, the CAIC said.
