Turns out the easiest method to make coffee at home is the greenest, too. If you're only making a cup of coffee for yourself, using instant instead of grinding and brewing your own java has the lowest amount of carbon emissions. In fact, it's one-third of the emissions versus making whole-bean coffee. The trick is to use instant coffee packaged in easily recyclable materials like aluminum or glass to make sure it's zero waste, too. The best part? Instant coffee has a shelf life of 20 years, and you only make enough for yourself, with none going down the drain.
