Swiss man's Jack Daniel's flag mistaken for Islamic State banner

(UPI) A Switzerland resident said he received a concerned note from an anonymous neighbor who confused his Jack Daniel's flag for an Islamic State banner.

The 29-year-old Zurich resident said he put the flag, which bears the white-on-black logo of the Tennessee whiskey maker, on a pole at his house along with a tri-color Italian flag because he found it amusing.

The man shared an anonymous letter he received from a neighbor with Swiss daily 20min.ch.

"Should we be afraid of you. Are you an IS-sympathizer?" the note reads, using the abbreviation for the Islamic State extremist group.

The man said his neighbors all denied writing the note and he explained to all of them that the flag represents Jack Daniel's whiskey, not religious extremism.

The resident said he would consider taking legal action against the note's author for "damage to his reputation."
