NEW YORK — New York City council members are calling on Mayor Eric Adams to take back Sean “Diddy” Combs’ key to the city, less than a week after footage showed the music mogul assaulting ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in a 2016 hotel incident.

CNN published the disturbing footage last Friday, prompting calls to revoke the honor granted to the 54-year-old Harlem native.

“Mayor Adams should immediately revoke Diddy’s key to the city,” council member Sandy Nurse told TMZ. “As an abuser, Diddy lost his right to have such an honor and should be held accountable for his actions. Mayor Adams should set the example and take it away.”

“Taking away an honor from a woman beater seems like par for the course,” council member Joe Borelli told the outlet, pointing to the city’s 2021 decision to remove a statue of Thomas Jefferson from City Hall, due to his ties to slavery.

Council members Shaun Abreu and Justin Brannan felt similarly to their peers, with the former noting that Adams “should snatch back Diddy’s key and slam the door behind him.”

Brannan, for his part, pitched giving Combs’ key to rap legend and New York native Nas.

Representatives for the council members and Mayor Adams did not immediately respond to the Daily News’ request for comment.

The council members aren’t the first to attempt to sever ties with Combs.

Following the release of the abuse video, Peloton also said it’s dropped Combs’ catalog from programming as it “take[s] this issue very seriously.”

R&B singer Ventura, 37, filed a lawsuit against Combs late last year, accusing him of rape, sex trafficking and physical abuse.

Though they settled a day later, several other accusers have since come forward with similar allegations in their own lawsuits.

Additionally, Combs’ homes in Miami and Los Angeles were raided earlier this year as part of a federal sex trafficking probe.
