What it’s about: A girl connects with a band of lonely "Ifs" — "imaginary friends" and tries to matchmake them with new kids.

The kid attractor factor: The animated characters and seemingly kid-friendly story.

Good lessons/bad lessons: It's important to stay connected to our inner childlike wonder in order to navigate the harsh realities of life.

Violence: None, but themes of illness, death, dying.

Language: No swearing but some mild language.

Sex: None

Drugs: None

Parents’ advisory: This rather somber film has some themes of parental death and dying which may be heavy for some young kids. Otherwise OK for kids of all ages.

'BACK TO BLACK'

Rated R for drug use, language throughout, sexual content and nudity.

What it’s about: A biopic about the iconic and tragic soul singer Amy Winehouse and the writing of her album "Back to Black."

The kid attractor factor: Not much unless they are fans of the singer.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Addiction is a beast, toxic relationships are destructive, but they can make for great art.

Violence: Some physical fights and squabbles.

Language: Swearing throughout.

Sex: Discussion of sex, a couple of sex scenes, some nudity.

Drugs: Extreme drug use throughout, including marijuana, cocaine and crack, as well as heavy drinking.

Parents’ advisory: The substance abuse and mutually abusive relationship are dark themes for younger audiences. OK for teens but not kids.
