Auto review: 2024 BMW X6 is nothing short of stunning

The luxury midsize coupe is becoming increasingly popular in the consumer market, and BMW is easily the leader of the pack with its X6. Featured in Grasso's Garage this week is the BMW X6 xDrive40i, adorned in Aventurin Red Metallic — a fiery red/orange metallic hue that is a stunning display of beauty, at least to my eyes.

Equipped with an ultra-quiet 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder engine and complemented by a 48V eBoost mild hybrid system, this powertrain generates 375 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque. The X6, featuring an eight-speed sport automatic transmission, provides an energetic drive for the enthusiast and a serene journey for passengers, thanks to its limited road noise and superior ride comfort.

Our vehicle for the week-long test drive featured several notable exterior and interior enhancements. The SUV/Coupe body style was complemented by upgraded 22-inch M-Sport wheels. Also included were the M-Sport Package Pro, Climate Comfort Package, Executive Package, Parking Assistance Package, Driving Assistance Pro Package, and M-Sport Professional Package, an illuminated Kidney Grille, parking safety features, remote start, LED lights with cornering capability, Harman Kardon surround sound, and heated seats in both the front and rear with heated armrests. These extras added $9,350 to the base price.

At Grasso's Garage, BMW always has a place. This upscale luxury brand consistently strives for comfort and luxury, with usability and driving pleasure designed around the driver. The SUV/Coupe style, as seen in the X6, may take some getting used to. Initially, I wasn't a fan, as its futuristic appearance was quite striking, but after driving and becoming accustomed to it, I found it persuasive and impressive.

The base price for a BMW SUV is quite reasonable considering what's included as standard. Not to mention that the purchase includes three years of maintenance, along with generous warranty periods and coverage. Like the recently tested iX M60, with its EV capabilities and $100K base price, the X6 offers comparable space, a distinctive shape, and all the features a discerning driver could desire.
