CHICAGO (UPI) -- A retired Chicago bus driver revisiting his past with a ride on public transport ensured he would stay retired by scratching off a $2 million lottery ticket.
Roy Pittman, 71, a lifelong Chicagoan who recently retired from his job as a Chicago Transit Authority bus driver, said he was riding a bus home from the store when he decided to scratch off his Illinois Lottery $2,000,000 Jumbo Bucks instant ticket.
"I was on the bus going home from the store when I scratched my ticket. When I realized I won $2,000,000, I started shaking!" he said.
Pittman, who purchased his ticket from Vincennes Food Mart, said he plans to share his windfall with family and donate money to charity.
Pittman offered some advice for aspiring lottery millionaires: "Try a ticket, because you just never know."
