Suspect uses iPhone to rob Rite Aid

KENT, Wash. (UPI) -- Washington police are looking for a man who was allegedly able to rob a pharmacy in Kent using just his iPhone and the power of words.

The suspect entered a Rite Aid pharmacy and informed an employee that his name was "Michael Edwards."

Instead of giving the pharmacy technician a handwritten note, the alleged robber handed over his iPhone with a message on its screen "stating he was robbing the pharmacy and he had a gun, which he was prepared to use," KOMO reported.

The worker took the iPhone note seriously and gave the robber 23 bottles of Oxycodone.

"Our concern is that this guy got away with it once, so he will likely try again," said Kent Police Det. Melanie Frazier.

The investigation is ongoing.
