Pac-Manhattan comes to the streets of Brooklyn during Come Out & Play Festival

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (UPI) -- During the Come Out & Play Festival in the Brooklyn neighborhood of DUMBO, New Yorkers took to the streets for a real-life version an arcade classic.
Some people dressed up as Pac-Man during the relaunch of Pac-Manhattan, and others opted to go as the ghosts that battle the iconic yellow character.
The game was first played on the streets of Greenwich Village in 2004.
Game designer Pete Vigeant, 33, helped set up that version of the game and was also the architect of the 2014 version.
"We're trying to turn the urban environment into something magical," Vigeant told the New York Daily News.
In the new version of the game, players used smartphones to help navigate the nine-mile course and track opponents.
"If you see people playing Pac-Man in the streets, it doesn't matter who you are or how old you are," Vigeant said. You're going to go tell your mom or your friends, 'I just saw this crazy thing in the streets.'
