Dog Breeds - Rottweiler

The Rottweiler is a large, robust and powerful dog breed originating from Germany. The breed is an ancient one with a history stretching back to the Roman Empire. Rottweilers have earned a reputation as a breed which can turn against its owner, but in the hands of a responsible owner, a well-trained and socialized Rottweiler can be a reliable, loving companion.

In general, Rottweilers are fond of children, very devoted, quick to learn, and eager to please. They're playful animals who demand attention -- if they're not receiving the mental stimulation they desire they'll find creative and destructive ways to get your attention. The Rottweiler is a steady, self-assured canine but its large size and incredible strength should be considered before adoption.
