Tomas Hertl scored the game-winner 2:11 into overtime, and the Vegas Golden Knights came back from two goals down to win 4-3 over the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena on Wednesday.

The Knights, who have made a habit of third period comebacks, did it again with two goals in the third to force overtime on the second night of a back-to-back.

Ivan Barbashev scored with 8:23 left, and Mitch Marner tied it with 3:24 remaining to erase a two-goal deficit that they had carried since the first period.

Marner added two assists, and goaltender Adin Hill made 23 saves for the Knights (29-19-14) to snap their three-game losing streak and finish 2-3 on their five-game road trip.

The Knights, after falling behind 3-0 in their previous three losses, broke that curse less than two minutes in off a goal from Reilly Smith.

That lead, and the momentum, didn’t last long.

Detroit scored three unanswered goals in the opening frame, including two in 59 seconds, to take a 3-1 lead that the Red Wings carried through two periods.

But the Knights found a way to end the road trip on a high note and return home Friday – the day of the trade deadline – to face the Minnesota Wild.
