LAS VEGAS — Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson has won her fifth WNBA Most Valuable Player Award, the league announced Thursday.
The Aces made the announcement official at a Thursday press conference.
It’s the third consecutive year Wilson has earned the honor and fourth in five years. No other player has won more than three total.
Wilson led the league with 26 points per game and 1.9 blocks per game, while also placing in the top five with 9.4 rebounds. She was a darling of the advanced analytics world with outstanding metrics for win probability added and win shares.
She is the rare case of a player with elite usage and efficiency on offense while looming as a dominant presence on the defensive end.
Wilson is seeking her fourth WNBA title with the Aces, who are trailing 2-0 to the Golden State Valkyries in the WNBA semifinals.
