HARTFORD, Conn. — The UConn men’s basketball program landed its first commitment in the 2027 class as NaVorro Bowman Jr., a five-star guard, reportedly pledged to the Huskies on Thursday.

Bowman, the son of former four-time NFL All-Pro linebacker NaVorro Bowman, is the No. 11 overall recruit and No. 2 combo guard in his class, according to 247Sports.

His commitment was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

At 6-foot-3 guard out of Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, Calif., Bowman made up his mind shortly after visiting Storrs earlier this week. He reportedly had additional visits planned to Illinois, Texas and Arizona later this month, but he didn’t waste any time after his inside look at Hurley’s program.

A starter on the USA Basketball team that won gold at the FIBA U17 World Cup, Bowman averaged 11.9 points, 3.6 assists and 2.7 rebounds in 18.3 minutes per game throughout the seven-game run. He impressed during the most recent EYBL season as well, averaging 20.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.6 steals this summer.

“While he’s a bit of a volume scorer, who shot 42 percent from the floor on 17 attempts per game, he’s talented with the ball and a true three-range threat. He handles, has stop-and-go change of pace, sharp changes of direction, a good left hand, and the physicality to initiate and absorb contact. He’s a tough shot-maker off the dribble, with pull-up range that now extends well beyond the arc, and while there are still times he can settle (33% from three on 6+ attempts per game), he can also make shots in bunches,” 247Sports Director of Scouting Adam Finkelstein wrote. “His ability to pressure the rim and make plays has improved significantly. He can not only get downhill with real force, but he’s a quality passer when he wants to be, albeit still somewhat turnover prone at times (2.3 per game). So, while he plays with a clear scoring mentality, he has growing on/off ball versatility.”

Bowman was the first 2027 recruit to visit Storrs this fall and became the highest-ranked player in his class to make his commitment so far.

UConn is also said to be hosting five-star wing DeMarcus Henry (No. 3 overall by 247Sports), another wing, Asa Montgomery (No. 8), center Kamsi Awaka (No. 40), wing Jordan Page (No. 12), wing Moussa Kamissoko (No. 14), wing Malachi Jordan (No. 19), and Jayon Connor (No. 86), for official visits over the next several weeks.

On3Sports’ Joe Tipton reported that additional visits with five-star point guard Cayden Daughtry, top-15 combo guard King Gibson and top-30 point guard Micah Gordon will no longer be happening after the Huskies landed Bowman.
