Dallas Wings guard Azzi Fudd to miss remainder of season with knee injury
Published in Basketball
The Dallas Wings announced that Azzi Fudd, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 WNBA draft, will be out for the rest of the season after undergoing an arthroscopic procedure on her right knee.
Before the team’s game against the Golden State Valkyries on Aug. 7, Fudd experienced knee soreness and sat out of an abundance of caution. She will not play another WNBA game until the 2027 season.
More troubling than just the procedure is Fudd’s injury history. The Virginia native has torn her ACL twice, once in 2019 and again in 2023.
Her absence will also be felt by the Wings, who are 1-4 in their last five games without Fudd and will miss her sharpshooting and defense.
Fudd ends her rookie season averaging 13.1 points, 1.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.7 steals per game, which leads all rookies.
The Wings currently sit in the eighth and final playoff spot and would play the Minnesota Lynx, to whom they’ve lost all three games this season, if the season ended today.
The Lynx have a crucial game against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever at 7 p.m. Thursday at American Airlines Center.
