FORT WORTH, Texas — Dallas Wings fans will be able to watch Azzi Fudd play basketball even after this WNBA season ends. The rookie announced that she’s joining Project B, a new women’s basketball league, set to start early next year.

Fudd explained why in an exclusive interview with Fortune’s Emma Hinchliffe, focusing on the opportunities to play abroad and broaden her horizons. She alluded to her father, Tim, who played professionally overseas.

The guard also tapped into her own experiences traveling to China and meeting fans with NBA superstar Steph Curry.

“I want to be able to broaden my experience and go outside of just America,” said Fudd. “People who are fans of me all around the world — I’m so far from home, in a country I’ve never been to, and people cheer for me, give me gifts, and welcome me with open arms — it was such an unreal experience. … It opened my eyes to just how much more is out there and how basketball can open the doors to so much.”

The league is planning to begin play in January and has already attracted other WNBA superstars, including Nneka Ogwumike, Alyssa Thomas and Jonquel Jones.

The league has confirmed it will play in Tokyo and Valencia, Spain. According to its website, more locations will be announced.

The league is attracting players by offering equity similar to the women’s 3v3 league Unrivaled. It has also drawn a plethora of WNBA stars, including Fudd’s teammate Paige Bueckers, Chelsea Gray and Aliyah Boston.
