Former Kansas State basketball star Michael Beasley arrested at Kansas airport

MANHATTAN, Kan. — Michael Beasley's return trip to Kansas State ended on a low note.

The former Kansas State basketball star was arrested for marijuana possession at 5:12 a.m. on Sunday at Manhattan Regional Airport, according to the Riley County Police Department's daily arrest log. He was not confined after paying a bond of $750.

Beasley was in Manhattan on Saturday to watch his first game as a fan inside Bramlage Coliseum. He sat in a front-row seat as the Wildcats defeated the rival Kansas Jayhawks, 81-73, in front of a sellout crowd.

He cheered throughout the game and took many photographs with K-State fans. It was a good experience for him.

"Everyone is treating me like I'm a cool guy," Beasley said afterward. "I didn't realize I would get this much respect as a former player."

Beasley was an All-American for the Wildcats during his lone college season in 2007-08. He averaged 26.2 points and 12.4 rebounds that season, and he led K-State to a trip to the NCAA Tournament.

He went on to become the No. 2 pick in the 2008 NBA draft. He played 11 years in the NBA for several different teams, including the Miami Heat and New York Knicks.

Beasley returned to Manhattan this weekend for a meet-and-greet event with fans in which he signed autographs and participated in a Q&A with those in attendance. He also spoke with K-State basketball players before and after their game on Saturday.

This is not the first time he has been arrested for marijuana possession.
