SAN FRANCISCO — It was only appropriate on Pokémon Night that the Giants electrified a rare sellout crowd.

Led by four scoreless innings from Trent Harris, Carson Seymour and Ryan Walker, the San Francisco Giants rebounded from a historic ninth-inning collapse to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-1 on Thursday night at Oracle Park.

Oracle Park’s attendance numbers have gradually dipped due in large part to the team’s poor performance, and Wednesday afternoon’s announced attendance of 24,130 was the lowest of the season. On Thursday night, the Giants announced a sellout crowd of 40,120, a number that was due in large part to Pokémon Worlds Night to coincide with the 2026 Pokémon World Championships.

Landen Roupp worked around trouble in the fourth inning to deliver five innings of one-run ball with three strikeouts to two walks. Roupp snapped a streak of five straight outings with at least three walks.

Drew Gilbert gave the Giants a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first with his first career leadoff homer, his fourth home run of the month. That lead held until the top of the fourth when the Diamondbacks’ Gabriel Moreno, who entered play with a 1.058 OPS against San Francisco this season, lined a solo shot into the left-field bleachers.

The Diamondbacks nearly scored the go-ahead run when Ildemaro Vargas lifted a fly ball to left field, but Turner Hill delivered a strong and accurate throw that didn’t require catcher Drew Cavanaugh to move a foot. Geraldo Perdomo, the runner on third, took a couple of hard steps home before retreating to third.

San Francisco took a 2-1 lead right back in the bottom of the fifth when Gilbert drove in his second run of the game, this time on a sacrifice fly.

The Giants added four much-needed insurance runs in the bottom of the eight thanks to an RBI double by Bryce Eldridge, a pair of RBI singles from Jonah Cox and Turner Hill and a squeeze play executed by Shay Whitcomb.
