SAN FRANCISCO — Behind Logan Webb’s six innings of one-run ball and a six-run barrage in the bottom of the fourth, the Giants defeated the Colorado Rockies 7-1 on Saturday afternoon at Oracle Park.

Webb was struck by a comebacker in the right shoulder/back area by a line drive off the bat of the Rockies’ Brett Sullivan, but remained in the game following a brief meeting with head trainer Dave Groeschner. He ended his afternoon having only thrown 80 pitches.

Outfielder Turner Hill made his major league debut after being called up on Friday, going hitless in three at-bats but driving in the go-ahead run in the fourth with a sacrifice fly.

Center fielder Drew Gilbert enjoyed one of his best games of the season, going 3 for 4 with a homer (his sixth) and a walk while matching his career-high three RBIs.

Designated hitter Rafael Devers and first baseman Bryce Eldridge each drove in a run, while right fielder Jung Hoo Lee recorded two hits.

Webb employed one of his more interesting pitch mixes of the season. Entering play, Webb’s most-utilized pitch was his sinker (29.7%) while his least-utilized was his four-seam fastball (12.7%). On Saturday, Webb threw a season-high 24 four-seam fastballs and a season-low five sinkers, the fewest two-seamers he’s thrown in a single start since April 14, 2021 (4).

In August, Webb has only allowed two runs over 20 innings.

Webb has cleared the six-inning threshold in his last seven starts, as well as 12 of his last 13 outings. During that span, Webb has a 2.70 ERA over 86 2/3 innings.
