NEW YORK — There’s no replacing Aaron Judge.

But with the back-to-back MVP going on the injured list with a stress fracture in his first right rib, the Yankees filled his roster spot with another 6-7 outfielder on Friday. That would be Spencer Jones, who was recalled from Triple-A after the pinstripers announced Judge’s devastating diagnosis — it’ll be four to six weeks before he’s even reimaged — on Thursday night.

Jones, the Yankees’ first-round pick in 2022, has demonstrated lots of power over his minor league career. However, strikeouts and struggles with making contact in the zone have also been a staple for the 25-year-old. The Yankees saw that firsthand during Jones’ first cup of big league coffee earlier this season, a 10-game stretch in which the left-handed hitter batted .167 (4 for 24) with two RBIs, a .426 OPS and 12 strikeouts over 27 plate appearances.

Jones posted a 45.8 K% over that small sample, while his in-zone contact percentage was 73%.

The speedy Jones is hitting .267 with a .949 OPS, 13 home runs, 48 RBIs, nine stolen bases, a 32.4 K% and a 70.1% in-zone contact percentage at Triple-A this season.

While the Yankees promoted Jones before their series-opener against the Red Sox on Friday, they could have more experienced options for Judge’s vacated roster spot in the near future.

Giancarlo Stanton (calf) and Jasson Domínguez (AC joint sprain) still aren’t ready to come back from their own injuries, but that could change soon. Domínguez began a rehab assignment at Triple-A on Friday, which is expected to last at least into next week. Stanton, meanwhile, has plans to take live batting practice on Saturday and ramp up his running over the next week.

It’s not yet known if the designated hitter will need a rehab assignment, something he’s skipped in the past. Stanton will not be joining the Yankees on their upcoming road trip to Cleveland and Boston.
