Published in Health Articles

Not everybody knows about all of the amazing chemicals created inside the cannabis plant. Two of the most common chemicals are CBD and THC. While CBD is famous for its non-psychoactive benefits, THC is the chemical in cannabis that can produce psychoactive effects.

Of course, biology is much more complicated than that. Not only are there many other kinds of chemicals in the cannabis plant, but there are also many other subcategories within each chemical. In other words, there are actually many different types of THC.

Together, these different types of THC can provide a wide variety of effects and benefits. So what exactly can the different kinds of THC do for you? Read on to learn about some of the most common varieties of THC!

THCA

Out of all types of THC oil, this is the only variety that has no psychoactive effects. In other words, it does not alter any states of consciousness. It is safe to use while driving cars and operating machinery.

This type of THC wax is found in the stems, leaves, and flowers of cannabis. It functions as a mother chemical of the other THC chemicals. In other words, the other types of THC are created by processing THCA in different ways.

THCA is used to treat a variety of conditions. These include nausea, epilepsy, arthritis, and general inflammation.

More and more studies are finding that inflammation is the cause of a host of diseases. Being able to reduce inflammation can potentially help treat a huge list of diseases.

THCV

THCV is psychoactive, but only slightly. In mild doses, it may not produce any discernible high. Unlike many types of THC concentrates, this type will actually decrease appetite. Instead of helping people to gain weight, it can potentially help people to lose weight.

Delta 9-THC

This is the most psychoactive compound in cannabis. It is responsible for the high that people are familiar with from marijuana.

On top of that, it can reduce anxiety, increase sleepiness, and relieve pain.

Delta-8 THC

As you might have guessed from their similar names, Delta 8-THC is very similar to Delta-9 THC. Not only do these two chemicals share a great deal of structural similarity at the molecular level, but they also produce very similar benefits when used by humans.
