(UPI) The Florida Highway Patrol said troopers had to catch a lemur at the side of a highway when it escaped during a traffic stop.

The FHP said Shane Taylor, 27, was pulled over on Interstate 4 in Seminole County when multiple 911 callers reported him driving erratically and at least three drivers said he struck their vehicles and kept going.

Troopers said Taylor's trailer was missing both of its right tires, causing the rims to drag on the road and shoot off sparks.

A video filmed by troopers shows a lemur escape from the stopped trailer, which investigators said also held a wallaby, a tortoise, a parrot, a goat and a sheep. Investigators said none of the animals had been properly secured.

The footage shows troopers working to block the lemur from running into traffic. Officials said they were eventually able to capture the animal.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission took custody of the animals, while Taylor was arrested on charges including DUI, reckless driving and hit and run.
