Ask Stacy for Nov. 25-26, 2017
DEAR STACY: I loved "thirtysomething" back in the day, so of course I'm enjoying the fact that our "Michael Steadman" -- actor-producer-director Ken Olin -- is having a great success as a producer and director of "This Is Us." I'd like to know whether he plans to appear on the series. -- PatNel33
DEAR PatNel33: There are no such plans, and that doesn't seem likely to change. Talking to Variety recently, Olin recounted the strangeness of doing an intimate bedroom scene with his "thirtysomething" wife, Mel Harris, while his real-life wife and cast mate, Patricia Wettig, sat nearby on the set waiting to talk to him about some real estate they were looking at. "It's weird being an actor," he said. "That's why I'm not an actor anymore!"
DEAR STACY: My friend at work says "Nashville" has been canceled. Say it's not true! -- Faye D., Clinton, Iowa
DEAR FAYE: Then I will just say that CMT has determined that "Nashville" will call it a wrap after its forthcoming sixth season. That gives you a whole season to get used to the idea. It also gives producers time to ensure the show, with its cast including Hayden Panettiere, Jonathan Jackson and Chris Carmack, will go out on a big musical high note, which they intend to do.
DEAR STACY: What's happened to plans for a big screen version of "Downton Abbey"? -- Downton Fan, Pensacola, Florida
DEAR FAN: The project remains a "wait and see." While the cast members have made it clear they're open to the idea, and creator Julian Fellowes has reportedly been working on a screenplay, as of now there is no finished script and nothing concrete to report. The consensus seems to be that the toughest part would be coordinating schedules.
DEAR STACY: Will there be a new version of "Sister, Sister"? Heard it from a friend. -- Blairs
DEAR Blairs: Maybe. Twins Tamera Mowry-Housley and Tia Mowry-Hardrict have been in huddles with producers of the hit show of their youth, and are looking at launching a series that would pick up with their respective characters now with a possible 2018 debut.Copyright 2017 Creators Syndicate Inc.
