Trevor May finds a rhythm, gets help in Twins' 11-4 win

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Twins on Wednesday hired a popular local DJ -- named Vaski -- to spin between innings of their game against the White Sox. Was it intentional?

Twins right-hander Trevor May is a DJ himself.

While Vaski spun from one of the decks in the left-field corner, May twirled one of his better outings since his debut Aug. 9. May discovered how much easier things are when he gets ahead in the count and was rewarded with a strong outing in the Twins' 11-4 victory over the White Sox.

May lasted just five innings, partly due to a 16-minute rain delay that hit in the bottom of the fifth. But that might have worked in his favor too.

There were runners on first and second and the score at 3-3 when the rains came. Once play resumed, Kennys Vargas flared the first pitch from John Danks to right for an RBI single. A second run scored when Oswaldo Arcia hit into a fielder's choice.

Eduardo Escobar, who was caught dancing in the dugout to Vaski's performance during the rain delay, smashed a two-run triple to right on the first pitch from reliever Matt Lindstrom as the Twins moved out to a 7-3 lead. Escobar then scored on Alexei Ramirez's fielding error.

The game was set up for May to get his first victory. The Twins gave him a 3-0 lead in the first behind five hits, including two doubles and a triple. May pounded the strike zone, throwing first pitch strikes to 15 of the first 17 batters he faced. But he grooved a fastball to Dayan Viciedo in the fourth that became a two-run home run and gave up an RBI single in the fifth to Adam Eaton. May began to labor but got out of a two-out jam as he completed five innings.

The end didn't represent how he started the game, getting ahead in the count, keeping his fastball at the knees and getting White Sox hitters to chase with two strikes on them.

Vargas added a two-run home run -- a blast into the second deck in left -- in the sixth as the Twins took a 10-3 lead.
