VANCOUVER, British Columbia (UPI) -- A Washington state coroner wants
to determine whether any of the severed feet that have washed up in
British Columbia came from a body in the San Juan Islands.
The body, which was discovered on Orcas Island by a hiker in March
2007, remains unidentified, The Vancouver Sun reported. Both hands and
feet and the right arm were missing.
Randall Gaylord, the coroner for San Juan County, told the newspaper
he got in touch with authorities in British Columbia Thursday.
Constable Annie Linteau of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said
recently the five feet found on beaches in British Columbia appear to
have been "naturally disarticulated" after death.
Police said one foot has been identified as belonging to a missing
man, CTV News reported. The man's family told police he had been
depressed.
