SAN DIEGO (UPI) -- Officials say a 9-year-old boy snatched by his
father -- who left him at a church in Mexico before being fatally
struck by a bus -- is back home in California.
Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino said Ryan Ramos, who
had been the subject of an Amber alert, was left at the Mormon church
in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, by his father Sunday morning, the San Diego
Union-Tribune reported Monday. KDBC-TV in El Paso, Texas, reported the
U.S. Consulate has confirmed the child had been returned to his family
in Southern California Monday.
Lonnie Ramos, 46, was alleged to have abducted his son after shooting
his estranged wife, Ryan's mother, in the face and abdomen during a
custody exchange at Ramos's home.
Amormino said Gynnae Ramos, 41, was initially hospitalized in critical
condition but her status had since been upgraded to good condition and
she was expected to survive, KDBC-TV reported.
