Runners in gorilla costumes break record
Crowding Denver streets and bike paths, the 1,061 participants in a charity run broke the record for the most gorilla-garbed people in one location, The Denver Post reported.
The pseudo-simians participated in the 6th annual Denver Gorilla Run, a 3.5-mile walk/run to help the Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund, which is raising money to augment a Ugandan training facility that teaches veterinarians how to care for mountain gorillas, the newspaper said.
The fun run's winners were Mark Lucas, who completed the approximately 3.5-mile run in 22 minutes, and Ann Flynn who clocked 29 minutes, the newspaper reported.
The run's entry fee of $99.95 gave runners a gorilla suit they could keep, the Post reported.
