14 pythons, 10 lizards taped to man's body

KRISTIANSAND, Norway (UPI) -- Norwegian customs officials said a man attempting to enter the country from Denmark had 14 king pythons taped to his body and 10 lizards in his pants.

The officials in the town of Kristiansand said they searched the 22-year-old Norwegian man, who crossed to the country from Denmark by ferry, after finding a live tarantula in his luggage. They said they discovered the reptiles hidden beneath his clothes, the British tabloid The Sun reported.

Investigators said the snakes were rolled up in socks and taped to his torso and the lizards were in small boxes taped to his legs.

"He told us he was crazy about reptiles," customs spokeswomen Helge Brelid said.

Brelid said the man, who was arrested on smuggling charges, did not specify whether the animals were for his own collection or if he was planning to sell them.
