Boy, 2, has pack-a-day habit
Toddler Tong Liangliang of Tianjin, China, was allowed to begin smoking by his father more than a year ago to help control pain from a hernia with which he was born, but his parents say the toddler's habit has gotten out of control, China Radio International reported Tuesday.
The boy's father said he made the decision because the toddler is too young to have an operation to correct the hernia.
However, the parents told the Bohai Morning Post Liangliang's habit has gotten out of control and they are seeking methods of helping the toddler quit.

This truly is weird news. In fact I sincerely have trouble buying into this almost as much as when these pages reported Hamas was going to release Galit or most recently the nuclear inspector in Iran who said in essence that the Iranian nuclear program is not a destructive grade. Actually, I buy into the 2 yr old smoking 2 packs of cigarettes a day more reasonable.

The story clearly states he was given the cigarettes for pain relief. No one decided it would be cute to have a small child smoking. The real question here is why are these parents not able to obtain some type of pain killer from a physician.

WHO is the parent here? If you don't want your baby to smoke, DON'T GIVE HIM CIGARETTES! DUH! Put up with the 3 days of crying while he withdraws. Besides, if he's smoking, he won't be able to have that hernia operation anyway, because his lungs won't be healthy enough to withstand anesthesia.

This is appalling!! Why in the world would someone give a baby cigarettes to smoke?? I don't think there is ANY justification for this crime.
