KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (UPI) -- Police in Knoxville, Tenn., said they were
searching for a black bear that burst into a woman's home after it was
apparently spooked by a neighborhood dog.
The Knoxville Police Department said Tom and Becky Mash called 911 at
about 10:20 p.m. Wednesday to report their encounter with the bear
while walking their dog, the Knoxville News Sentinel reported
Thursday.
The couple said the bear appeared to have been frightened by their
dog's barking and crashed into a woman's home through a glass door.
"As we topped the hill, I saw the bear rise up and all of a sudden the
dog started barking. ... That bear goes through the glass door of this
woman's house," said Tom Mash. "That lady started screaming bloody
murder. Wouldn't you?"
Mash said the bear chased the woman around her living room before
fleeing through the back door of the home. He said the woman was
frightened but not injured.
Police said they were searching the neighborhood, which contains
several wooded areas, for the animal.
