starting a church
Yes, I have a suggestion - don't do what everybody else is doing. Get acquainted with all three members of the Trinity, know why each is important, then learn to follow their leading.
I believe the apostle, Paul, gave the best overall structure of church government in Eph. 4:11-16. He began by stating that Jesus gave five gifts to the church (not one). This implies that there should be mutual accountability, not a hierarchy. I believe that because pastors are trying to be a one-man show is the reason so many are becoming burned out. A good pastor will always encourage the development and use of gifts in others and will never consider himself to be in competition with others.
Learn to communicate. There are so many problems simply because people assume rather than ask questions. And I'm not talking about the "Why did you do that - that was stupid" kind of question, but rather the "Why did you do that - I'm trying to see from your perspective" kind of question. The latter is true understanding. (Remember Proverbs?)
Don't get so hung up on rules and traditions that they become more important than people.
But most important - keep your passion for a personal relationship with the Trinity alive, and growing, and contagious.
