Okla. legislator issues moral proclamation

OKLAHOMA CITY (UPI) -- Oklahoma state Rep. Sally Kern used the Statehouse as a backdrop for the release of a proclamation urging the United States to return to biblical values.

Kern drew about 250 people Thursday, some to support her and sign her proclamation while a smaller group came to protest it, the Daily Oklahoman reported. Critics said she violated separation of church and state by holding the event in the Capitol.

The proclamation criticizes President Barack Obama for not taking a more active role in the National Day of Prayer and blames the economic slump on moral failure.

"This nation has become a world leader in promoting abortion, pornography, same sex marriage, sex trafficking, divorce, illegitimate births, child abuse, and many other forms of debauchery," it says.

Only four members of Oklahoma's 149-member state Legislature joined Kern, all Republicans.

Protesters chanted "Shame on you" and "Love thy neighbor." Kern's supporters responded by singing "God Bless America."

The exchange became so noisy Kern ended the event and moved a news conference into the press office.

Thanks to W. Lamphere for the clarification on the establishment of the United States.

Whatever argument people in Westernized countries may make doesn't change the facts. The white man came over, took over, screwed over, and expected everyone else to bend over (and not backwards).
It is charming to think that Christianity made our countries, but the ugly fact is that much damage has been done in the name of the Christian God.

Charlie is right about the fact that however I feel about what others do in this world, the only salvation I am responsible for is mine. When I face God in my due time, he won't be grilling me about what anyone else did, just what I did, do and will do til that day.

When all is said and done it is Christ who will have the final say. He came from heaven to give His life a ransom for us and He doesn't differenciate between people. Whoever believes on Him will recieve eternal life. Whether you believe that or not doesn't change the end result it only establishes your destiny.

None of us will live to see the day, when Christianity, will be the last religion standing. I do not have to meet anyone's moral code, but my own. The only responsibility that government has, is to make certain that people do not break the law. Conservatives want government out of their business, except when it comes to their definition of morality; and, that is exactly, where they do not belong.

It is most important for people to remember that YOUR RIGHTS END, WHEN ANOTHER'S BEGIN.

I support Kern!! I am not in OKLAHOMA.

CHARLIE - in today's society you are parroting the common humanistic, politically correct view when you state "Government does not belong in our bedrooms. People will choose their own partners, engage in whatever act pleases them, assuming that all are consenting adults." What happens when a police officer pulls you over and gives you a ticket for speeding, or defective turn signals, or some other violation of the law?? You have to accept the responsibility or you could end up in jail for awhile. God will judge on HIS morality, not yours, not mine, not the neighbors.... How do you measure up to HIS morality?? Don't know?? Read the Bible and turn to the 10 Commandments in the book of EXODUS. Read with the question in front of you, DO I MEET THIS MORAL CODE?
