Report: Religion helping spread of mumps
The outbreak began in February and is now nearing 200 confirmed cases in the southern part of the province, the Vancouver Sun reported Tuesday.
Dr. Elizabeth Brodkin told the newspaper of the confirmed or suspected cases, about half have never had any vaccinations, and said most of the reasons were religious or philosophical.
"At the moment, there is some evidence that it is moving out of the faith-based communities and into the broader communities," she said. "After all, this is not a trivial disease -- we've had many cases resulting in hospitalizations and complications like deafness, meningitis and testicular involvement, which can cause sterility."
Mumps is spread by saliva droplets, and a common joint vaccine for measles, mumps and rubella is widely effective in controlling the diseases, Brodkin said.

Religion Spreading Mumps
There are unclean substances in some of those vaccines..they do not make "kosher" vaccines..some of them have pork, monkey and rat DNA, and other substances that to some religious beliefs would be considered transgression of God's law..are we supposed to follow God's law or man's law first? Ask yourself that question..Leviticus 11 gives us the clean and unclean things we can consume..if we're not supposed to consume it, what makes you think that God would want you to have it injected into you..Food for thought..

Religous Dogma
This is really a difficult issue. When religious dogma clashes with scientific evidence it usually slows down or reverses our progress toward a better and safer society.
It can take many years for religious beliefs to change. It took the Catholic church over 360 years to acknowledge that they were wrong about Galileo’s view of the universe.
Unfortunately there is no amount of evidence that can change a mind set brainwashed by religion. Is it any wonder the worst wars that last for centuries are religious wars?

Vaccinations
Every "right", has a "responsibility" attached to it. If you refuse vaccinations for yourself and/or your children, that is your choice; but, what gives you the right to infect others?

mumps vaccine refused by religious group
God is the Master Healer.Man researches for preventives and cure, for mankind's welfare.babies and children get immunizations to prevent them from contracting these communicable diseases, which when not taken, is liable to develop severe complications.I would not refuse, for my children's benefit.Of course, these vaccines have side effects, which you , as parent, has to be aware of.This preventive measure will prevent spread of the germs. We pray ththe OUR FATHER daily, as preventive for all kinds of harm, Amen.
