Michael Gerson / Politics

Michael Gerson began his career in politics as a senior editor at U.S. News and World Report, and went on to serve as speechwriter for both Jack Kemp and Bob Dole. In 1999 he joined President George W. Bush's campaign as chief speechwriter and a senior policy advisor, and continued working during Bush's presidency as Assistant to the President for Policy and Strategic Planning. He joined the Council on Foreign Relations in 2006, and in 2007 published his first book, "Heroic Conservatism." Gerson currently serves as the Senior Advisor at the bipartisan organization ONE, and holds positions in Bread for the World, the Holocaust Memorial Museum, and many other organizations.
