For long road trips with school aged children, pack one complete outfit (shirt, shorts, underwear, socks) and put all the pieces together in zip lock bag - one per day on the road, plus 1 or 2 extra in case of accidents. This way, children just chose one bag from their suitcase, instead of having to paw through a stack of shirts, shorts, underwear, etc. Then, the bags proved to be invaluable in the car for trash, wet swim clothes, etc. This made getting up and dressed a thousand times easier!
