Let your child(ren) have a say in the curriculum you choose. If they aren't happy with it, they won't learn as much. For instance, I let my daughter pick which science topic she's going to be studying (she chose The Brain). I did give her a few to choose from, so that I knew ahead of time it was "do-able" for me. But she got the ultimate say.
