Everyday Cheapskate / Home & Consumer

Columnist Mary Hunt does not consider "cheapskate" a bad word -- rather, she encourages her readers to learn to free themselves from debt with advice, money-saving ideas, and household tips. Her Web site, www.debtproofliving.com, debuted in 1998 and attracts more than 8 million hits a month. Besides her column, Mary also conducts online video workshops, works as a self-help coach for AOL, and has served as consumer spokesperson for companies such as MCI and Microsoft.

Mary received her degree from The Master's College in Los Angeles. Prior to devoting herself to her work as a writer and "cheerleader" to her readers and various big businesses, she co-founded Hunt Industrial Properties and served on the Board of Directors of the American Industrial Real Estate Association. She currently resides in Orange County with her husband and Hunt Industrial Properties co-founder, Harold Hunt.
