The reluctance of doctors to order a sleep apnea test may have added to the problems when diabetes started much later. First tested with an MRI in 1983 which failed to identify and problem, my doctors wouldn't order the test until I fell asleep driving-fortunately hurting no one else but myself. I have reoccurring shoulder problem because it pulled the joint out when I had ther accident. Perhaps the onset of diabetes would have been delayed if the problem of sleep apnea had been diagnosed properly. It was until 1999 that the test was done-in 15 minutes they had diagnosed me and fitted with a trial C-pap machine. I am more insistent now when dealing with doctor and their care of my problems. They know symptoms common to all, I know me.
