I think the pretty flower in my yard is beautiful. I do not know the name of this plant. Was told it's a weed. Can you help me identify it?

your little yellow flowers

When I moved into my home I had them growing around my garden shed in the shade in early to mid spring, when I took down the shed to build a larger one further back in my yard allowing sun to reach that area they started moving everywhere now they are in my rose bed and two other sperated beds the can be quite invasive but when they get out of control I just weed them out they always come back, They grow like creeping charlie and if let to go wild they will choke other flowers Do the leaves have white spots in a pattern??

Looks like a buttercup to me. They grow in the wild usually--however we have them growing on our lawn early in the spring along with a very pretty little flower we call baby breath.

ID

It helps to see the foliage also when trying to ID something and more than one blossom. From the blossom alone, I suspect it may be a marsh marigold or cowslip (Caltha palustris). It can have a varying number of petals.
