Recipe -- Pear Chutney

Makes 1 1/2 cups.
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 medium-size sweet onion, chopped
1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and chopped
2 medium pears, peeled and chopped
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
Cooking Directions
Melt butter in a small skillet over medium-high heat.
Add brown sugar, onion, and jalapeno pepper, and saute 5 to 6 minutes or until mixture is caramel colored.
Add pears and next 3 ingredients; reduce heat, and simmer 6 to 8 minutes.
Serving Suggestions
From the East Indies, chutney is a spicy condiment that contains fruit, vinegar and spices. This fresh pear version makes great side to Herbed Marinated Pork Chops or along with Roasted Peppered Pork Loin.
