Calif. gay weddings strive to be low key
The Los Angeles Times said Monday's first same-sex nuptials in the Golden State were in general low-key affairs carried out in civil ceremonies at various county clerks' offices.
"One of the things about the gay and lesbian community is we're known
for our outrageousness, our flamboyance," said West Hollywood City
Councilman John Duran, who is also president of the board of Equality California, an organization pushing for same-sex marriage. "But
we're under this incredible political pressure not to have those
portrayals."
Angry opponents of gay marriage predict the sight of same-sex couples saying "I do" will cause the general public to push back against the idea. However, proponents say people will actually become more accepting.
More ceremonies were scheduled for Tuesday, including the wedding of "Star Trek" star George Takai and his partner of 21 years in Los Angeles, plus a Marine Corps veteran in San Diego and State Assemblyman Dennis Mangers.

I used to swing both ways but when someone told me that I was not doing right by God's principles and would go to hell, I swung stroight. I Know politically correct. But God made the rules not me or you, or anybody. What is going on folks. I feel we are going in for another Sodom and Gommorah.I don't like any knnd of open affection where children can be affected. Let's keep it in the bedroom, No one needs to see you slobbering, open mouth kissing, etc. Thanks.
