Johnny Hart

Johnny Hart began drawing "B.C." after being dared by a friend to create a comic strip set entirely in prehistoric times. After five rejections, it was accepted for national syndication in 1958, and now appears in over 1,300 newspapers nationwide. The comic appeals to a wide audience for its lighthearted humor, but also for its strong religious messages, which are most apparent in Hart's special Christmas and Easter strips. "B.C." characters have become known worldwide through the comic, TV specials, merchandise, and published collections.
