15-year-old angler lands 15.32-pound largemouth bass in Texas lake

(UPI) The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department said a 15-year-old angler set a new record for Lake Travis when he reeled in a largemouth bass that tipped the scales at 15.32 pounds.
The department said Trace Jansen, 15, of Buda, reeled in the monster bass Sunday while fishing in Lake Travis, in the Austin area.
Officials said Trace's fish, which weighed 15.32 pounds and was measured at 28 inches long, is a new record for a largemouth bass caught in Lake Travis. The previous record, set in 1993, was 13 pounds.
"It was crazy," Trace told MySanAntonio.com. It's almost unreal. I never thought I would catch a fish that big in my life.
Trace donated his catch to the TPWD Toyota ShareLunker Program, which works with biologists to spawn fish for Texas lakes.
