- Solution: 1.Bc3 Rh5 [1...Rc1 2.Bd2+] 2.Bb4 Rd5 [2...Rh2 3.Bxd6+] 3.c7 Rd4 4.Bxd6+ Rxd6 5.c8=Q with a theoretical win. For extra credit, here is the original study which stood for 52 years. The winning idea is the same: 1.Bc3, but there is a flaw in it. See if you can find it. White king on h8, White bishop on f6, White pawn on c6. Black king on f4, Black rook on h1, Black pawn on h6. White to play.
