(UPI) A mischievous raccoon snuck into a train station in Pennsylvania without paying its fare, railway officials said.

The Port Authority Transit Corporation Speedline shared a photo of the sneaky raccoon that was spotted making its way down the stairs of the Philadelphia station.

"We're aware of this furry fare evader at 8th Street," PATCO wrote Tuesday morning. Animal control has been notified to safely remove the mammal.

David Bell Mislan initially spotted the raccoon rifling through a bag on the station steps Monday night at about 9:30 p.m. and alerted staff to its presence, Philly.com reported.

Maintenance workers and police officers managed to track down the fugitive raccoon and released it back to the wild in New Jersey.

"Our 'Furry Fare Evader' was coaxed by a salami sandwich and was safely released back into the woods in Lindenwold early Wednesday!" PATCO said.
