(UPI) A Los Angeles man photographing wildlife at Runyon Canyon ended up capturing video of an unexpected animal: A non-native python slithering around post-meal.

Jacob Rohn said he and his dog, Breezy, were walking near the Fuller Ave. entrance to Runyon Canyon park in the hopes of capturing some wildlife photos when he spotted the approximately 4-foot snake slithering slowly near the trail.

Rohn speculated the python, which appeared to have recently eaten, had escaped or was abandoned.

"Someone's pet python is loose in Runyon," he wrote on Facebook.

Rohn said the python didn't seem to mind the crowd of gawkers watching it from nearby.

"It seemed to be having a pretty good time. It seemed to feel pretty comfortable in Runyon. It was not running away from people, that's for sure," Rohn told KABC-TV.

Rohn said he was briefly concerned for the safety of his 16-pound dog when the snake lifted its head, but the reptile seemed to be sated by its recent meal.

"Just happy that everything is all good and hopefully the snake will find a good home, too," he said.
